Interactive video space

Portable project space in development, an arena with video, audio, and interactive triggers. Developed for a cinema, a stage for performances, classroom for experiments, and workshop floor.

Sun Stories
Led by Jenny-May While (Dancer, Director and Choreographer), Bill Howard (Interactive Video) and Leo More (Interactive Audio)

Dance project with video and audio interaction. Inspired by stories, tales, fables, poetry, songs, facts and statistics about the sun, found in a variety of forms and cultures. The performance is based on an exploration of the way the body inhabits space (dance/theatre/ acrobatics) which will be designed to give the spectators, through proximity to the performers and by inhabiting a shared space, a kinaesthetic experience. The use of live and recorded sound is an integral part of the creation. Musicians are located at various places in the space with different instruments. Video screens placed in the space are linked to cameras, which the video artists will use throughout to film both performers and spectators, cutting and looping, and improvising.

Shadow puppet workshop

Produced by Damien Barnecutt and Staynormal.com, this highly popular film workshop for children features a complete process from puppet to DVD. Storytelling and imagination are the key to producing highly innovative works with their own gala night!

Inter-site broadcast

With the support of Pitchless, The Projection Gallery are developing a streaming architecture with web-cams to capture, document and broadcast activities on video from exhibitions, to other sites around the UK, and further afield on the web. Interaction is to be encouraged with remote sites through documentation and audio, with members at other sites contributing to a wider production. Negotiations are in progress for terminals and screens in other locations, including redundant technology partnerships with designers and artists to place terminals.

Workshops and knowledge exchange   Workshops and knowledge exchange
The collection of viewpoints, ideas and issues raised are a valuable resource to further development of those involved, and as such will be archived. They will become a linked resource matrix of documents on the website and as real-space bulletin board, alongside notices and leaflets inviting public opinion and as a comments book.
Website, server space and DVD documentation   The Projection Gallery website will include samples of the works shown as a group. It will provide architecture for artist's galleries and thorough documentation of past exhibitions, streaming broadcasts both as preparations for and during the shows.. Server space will be provided to participants to use as virtual practice space. A forum will provide for debate and communication between participants, whilst open documents will be used to prepare themes and concepts. Links and promotions will be forged with supportive partner organisations.
